This has been done as intended.

Are you sure PokeCanada? How do you know this.

The rendering changes when other blocks are placed diagonally behind/below the stairs.
Best observable with quartz stairs.

No new issue, reproducible in 1.4.7

Resolved as duplicate of MC-92 (thx Tails)
