armor stands "sinking" to lower levels of building

Armor stands placed on top half of stone slabs for flooring in a building, seem to go through the floor and end up at lower levels of the building. This happens at random times when I leave and return to the building. One is even half through the floor as shown in attachment. This is in single player survival mode.
