I was drifting in a boat about 5 meters off shore . . .
In a 2 block deep area of water . . .
Looking at something on the Shore when BAM ! ! ! - I was DEAD ! ! !
Respawn screen shows me with all under water bubbles . . .
All I heard was a SPLOOSH sound . . .
2 Seconds later I was looking at the respawn screen . . .
What in heck Happened ?????
What KILLED Me ?????

I Also spawned 3 nether portals in this same game with VERY little or Nothing to step out on with a lava ocean right below . . .

Please only report one issue per ticket, its easier for you to report several tickets than for the mods to separate them.
The Nether portal part has already been covered in MC-73504 (feel free to vote that issue up).
The boat part may be caused by MC-881 (although the title says 'aground', it happens also if a mob bumps into the boat, as seen in some of the comments).

But this does NOT resolve my issue as to what the F*** killed me . . .
I was not bobbing as it suggests in your MC-881 link . . . I was drifting smoothly on the water . . .
I DIDN'T hit anything but water . . .
There were NO MOBS anywhere around me . . .
And shouldn't you take ZERO damage when falling into water ???? Instead of Dying instantly ????
I mean like I have jumped off of 254 blocks of sand into a single layer of water with no damage that I am aware of . ..
And Why is this stupid reporting system showing my Full name and NOT my user name ?????????????????
Never mind the last, I changed it ! shows the user name now in the full name line.
After reading to the bottom of the comments, I see that what it mentions in MC-881 is duplicate to my issue
