Leads can be duplicated

If you attach a lead to a passive entity such as a sheep or horse then walk through a portal, but not warp through it the lead will go through the portal, but the entity cannot pass through.

The entity will travel through the portal. The number of leads the player has will not go down. Once you travel through the portal you can pick up a dropped lead, thus duplicating the item.
