Every world I've created seems to develope huge missing chunks in the ground. On the world I'm currently playing on I fell into one of the holes and now the world won't even load properly. I would really like to get the world back if possible, I have so much time and effort invested in it. Is there a fix to this problem?

The second picture is the only thing I can see in the world once I fell into one of the holes. I can't move or do anything but get into my inventory. I've tried logging off and back on a few times. I'm playing single player.

In the Launcher -> Edit Profile -> Use Version -> "Latest Version" or "release 1.8.1"
