[MC-76278] Lighting not updating until walked up or block update

Occasionally in my worlds some areas of the landscape appear severely darkened, and will only brighten again unless I walk into it or edit the landscape/place a block by or on it. This happens regularly on servers!

Can confirm. Mostly in the savannah below trees.
Will add screenshots at next occasion.

Screenshots: Shadow below the tree turns lighter when approaching.
World was created in 1.1 but that area was generated in 1.8.
SMP server.

Confirmed in 1.8.3. Lighting glitches like this have been around forever. I'm sure there is an older report, but I can't find it.

I added 2 more screenshots. Before with torch and after without torch. Lighting is not updated correctly in many places. This is very easy to re-create.
