Id changes over lan connection.

My friend and i play in a lan world that i host, but his id keeps changing. One of the reasons behind this is probably because my network is a patchy one so its sometimes online and sometimes offline. But its still really annoying!
Why is this still a problem, why do players get different id's when playing online or offline?

If you're talking about UUIDs, there is no way for the game to know a player's actual UUID while offline (without compromising security). When playing offline, a false UUID is generated as a substitute.

Yeah, i guess i'm talking about UUID's..

there is your awnser

As I said, it would compromise security. If it was static, people would find ways to clone sessions and/or spoof UUIDs.

So why do i always keep my inventory in my single player world?
