Wither projectiles persist in the air, stationary

We spawned a Wither, got killed, and it raged away from us. It is far from us now, and likely not active, but we still have stationary Wither skull/projectiles stuck in the air. They have been there for weeks now, and don't move. I would be happy to welcome you to the Realm to show you.
