Blocks/Entities not rendering when looking through transparent block model.

As you can see in attached picture I have a block that is placed in the helmet equipment slot and the water in the distance is not being rendered. This also happens with some other blocks (glass, maybe more) and it happens with entities as well. So if a player or mob was behind the model then you would be unable to see that entity as well.
