Upon launching any version of the game, no new window opens; particularly, java itself. This is confusing since as far as I know, the launcher runs on java. However, I could be mistaken. Furthermore, after the game does not start, the Game Output section of the launcher is entirely blank, as if it does not know how to grab the files and directories located in the minecraft folder (Which, yes, I have deleted and reinstalled via the launcher). I have made sure all services that could be blocking the game are not on and that I do have a stable version of java and the newest launcher, plus restarting my system a very few 10 times.
Disclaimer: This is my friend's issue, not mine, and I'm writing this up since he doesn't understand how the website works and I'm too impatient to teach him at the current moment. Requests for screenshots can be given, as long as you give time to me.

Please attach the complete output of the "Launcher Log" which can be found on the second tab of the launcher.
If the launcher closes after game start, please edit your profile and select "Launcher visibility" then, "Keep the launcher open".
We resolved the issue. Java runtime wasn't installed, even though no dialog popped up to tell us like its supposed to. Nonetheless, thanks for the support!
Please vote this up, as it is a fatal issue and not a bug that is just annoying or irrelevant. My friend literally can't play the game whatsoever. Thanks.
