Steps to Reproduce:
Build the setup as shown in the attachment below.
Activate the tripwire by standing on it, and place an item frame or painting on the side of the diamond block.
Walk off the tripwire and watch it closely.
Take note as to whether or not item frames and paintings prevent tripwires and pressure plates from deactivating.
Observed Behavior:
Item frames and paintings prevent tripwires and pressure plates from deactivating.
Expected Behavior:
Item frames and paintings would not prevent tripwires and pressure plates from deactivating.

I can confirm the same behavior on 1.8.7 on 64-bit Linux, Java 8.
