You can middle click path blocks in creative to get them in your inventory.
With the block you can place path blocks without needing to use a shovel.

[Mojang] Grum (Erik Broes) resolved MC-83729 - Grass Path can be Pick-Block'd but isn't in the creative inventory as 'Works As Intended'
