@e[type=!Player] doesn't work anymore

Whenever I try to use a command on the target @e[type=!Player] I just receive "That entity cannot be found"

Cannot reproduce with /testfor @e[type=!Player]. What exact command did you use?

/effect @e[type=!Player] glowing
and
/kill @e[type=!Player]
