Middle click doesn't work holding tool

When holding a tool such as a sword, axe, shovel, etc. and clicking the middle mouse button in creative mode, it does not give me the block I middle clicked on. Not sure if this is a bug, but I'm reporting it just in case. I tested this with different tools and it seems to happen for all of them.
