Hit registration on pvp servers

Thousands of players, including myself have been suffering from bad hit registration on pvp servers. Basically when players hit other players, their hits sometimes wont register as hits even if particles appear(this can affect bows as well). Sometimes it gets so bad that skill doesn't even make a difference. I don't even know if there's anything that you can do about this, but a huge part of the minecraft community deals with it and would love to see it fixed.

What I expected to happen was...:
All my hits would register

What actually happened was...:
many of my hits didn't register.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Get on a server (I play on mc.hypixel.net)
2. play some pvp games for a while and you'll notice it (Its easiest to notice on games where you usually only fight 1 player at a time).

It's not modded. Trust me.

Hypixel is definitely modded. We can look into re-opening this ticket if you can outline the issue clearly and provide detailed and clear steps to reproduce the issue on an unmodded server and client.

No they're not. They use resource packs to change the way normal blocks and items look without using any mods. They even showed how they do it at minecon, and mojang put a video of it on youtube. And either way it's not just them that deal with it. It's can affect any server. All you need to do to "reproduce" it is play a pvp game on a server. (like I said it's easiest to notice on games with lots of 1v1s, but it can still be hard to notice) I've noticed it can be affected by internet speed, which is a reason that I'm not sure if there's anything that can be done about it. However if there is please look into it. It takes a huge amount of the fun out of games that people and servers like hypixel have worked so hard to create.

To support /u/redstonehelper, Hypixel is modded and here's why:

For something to not be modded, it has to be a "Vanilla Minecraft Server" downloaded directly from the Mojang Website. Hypixel uses BungeeCord, which is a mod of the original Vanilla Minecraft Server files. They use Bukkit plugins which count as mods. They also allow 1.7.2-1.8.8 clients to join, while Vanilla Minecraft Servers do not allow this.

Even though you may not be using Forge Mod Loader/Liteloader when you join, the server is using a plugin loader named Spigot/BungeeCord to load their own custom mods.

I believe that the main reason that Hypixel doesn't register your hits is because 1.7 and 1.8 pvp are slightly different and Hypixel caters to 1.7's PVP style because Spigot 1.7-1.8 protocol hack is built upon 1.7.10.

good to know. Would it possible for them to stop "catering to 1.7's pvp style"? And if so, would that fix it? (I dont care what gets done as long as it gets fixed. it's ruining the game) Also what do you mean by "their own custom mods"?

You need to talk to them, not us. Their own custom mods are modifications to the server software.
