if you give yourself any levitation that pulls you down (any amplifier from 128 till 254) and land on the ground while or after it wears off, you will bounce in to the air. i dont know if you intended this or not (it might even be a cool feature)

For a temp fix just switch the player in and out of spectator mode. This will remove all fall damage.
Effects with amplifiers over 4 are not supported
