the items don't bounce of the stairs

This looks related to MC-73302, which was a big unintended bug, which has been fixed in 1.9. I think items bouncing off stairs was unintended, and that they don´t bounce anymore is not a bug, but a fix.

Intended. MC-1720 got fixed.
