Clay blocks disappear when placing more than ~30 on a plane

When placing more than 30 or so clay blocks on either a horizontal or vertical plane, a large chunk of them will disappear. Starting with a 5x5 plane and expanding it to 6x6 or 6x7 or so can reproduce this.This can also delete other adjacent blocks along the same plane. Reproduced in single player creative and survival multiplayer.
