On os x, alt + n for making little waves like this ~ doesn't work

Confirmed that the Minecraft textual interfaces do not support the direct entry of special characters using the typical Mac OS X input methods (which include Option+<key> sequences and holding down the related unaccented key until a popup appears).

Until it's fixed, cmd+alt+n.
