Pistons are powered without redstone attached

This worked for me in Creative and Survival modes, so for gamemode I put none.

The redstone dust is pointing into the block so the block is powered weakly, it in turn is powering the piston.

The redstone does not touch the piston from any angle, it is powering the stone beside it, not the piston. How can the stone be powereding the piston with a current if it is a solid, non redstone related block?

You need to look up some basic redstone mechanics.
