Bug with watermelons/pumpkins

Ok so I was playing skyblock on a famous MC server. I was doing some farming when I accidently broke a watermelon plant with a watermelon next to it. I put it back and I noticed that the plant was unready green and was connected to the watermelon next to it. I broke the watermelon and the plant turned back into its first frame. I don't know if this happens with pumpkins, I havent tried yet.
