Mojang Symbol [Black thing] not craftable on banners.

In older versions you were able to add a mojang symbol to banners using a Notch apple, but now that notch apples aren't craftable, this isn't craftable either.

What I expected to happen:
I expected to be able to add the mojang symbol to my banner.

What actually happened was:
I was unable to add the mojang symbol due to the fact notch apples are uncraftable.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Obtain golden apple
2. Obtain banner
3. Try to add golden apple to banner
4. Give self notch apple (uncraftable)
5. Try to add notch apple to banner
