Upon toggling fullscreen mode, I wanted to change some settings around, so I disabled fullscreen mode. After disabling it, I found that I couldn't make the minecraft window bigger so it fits the whole desktop space. It was stuck as a tiny window in the middle of my screen. I'm using Windows, but it may also affect Mac OS.

It seems that it works if you type in the resolution manually in the profile editor although it breaks again if you go into and out of fullscreen.
i would also like to add that you cannot drag the window to the side of the screen to make it automatically take up half of the screen which
is a bug that has occurred in earlier versions of the game.
