Flying after shifting between Creative/Spectator

The bug

I pressed F3+N to get into spectator. Then I pressed this again and I was in creative but I flew.

How to reproduce

  1. Get in Creative and stand on the floor (don't fly)

  2. Press F3+N

  3. Press F3+N again
    → ❌ Now you are flying

Also, if you are in survival mode and change your gamemode to spectator mode, you will fall into the block beneath you.

I hope this is intentional. I like this. I often use this when using command blocks. This is really useful to make a player start flying.
