Glitchy rendering in 1.9

Frequently when playing minecraft 1.9, I encounter a very odd issue. The entire world isn't being rendered correctly. One second everything is fine, and the next i'm seeing some cave underground, or underwater, or just some other place on land. Worse yet, the glitchy rendering changes almost by the second. It makes it almost impossible to play the game because I can't see where I'm going.
