Tons of weird chunk/visual glitches when i change render distance

the image is a squid and something else next to it
i don't have any mods installed (I checked most of the files)
the terrain is intact but it is invisible generally showing the same area of a chunk over and over
animals are sometimes messed up (like the squid)
when ever i move it looks completely different
at first i thought my computer couldn't handle it but my computer can handle 7 chunks loaded
