I have a sorting system on my server and since the 1.9 updates some hoppers dont forward items.
This happens to hoppers in a hopper chain that should pass items to the next hopper as well as to hoppers thet should pull out items from the hopper above them.
Therefore items just bulk up somewhere in the system.
Replacing the hoppers seems to fix it temporarily, but after some time the problem appears again and sometimes it starts randomly working again.
I have checked the server log and the server is not overloaded, so tickrate seems not be causing the issue

I am playing on fairly active whitelisted server, where 20 players on at a time is mostly the norm. I can confirm this hopper bug to be true. Several players, myself included have hopper chains where one (or more) hoppers just lock and fail to pass items. We break the hoppers, and replace them, and some time later those others in the chain will lock. A screenshot would not really be overly helpful as, in my case, it's literally 10 hoppers going down from a higher location then linking 11 more going west. I have had hoppers in this chain lock at random. Its not often the same ones locking. This behaviour is unique to 1.9. Thanks for reading.
I have observed the same issue on a whitelisted server I play on, in which some hoppers apparently spontaneously stop functioning until broken and replaced. Possibly related, I have also seen the same issue with furnaces, which when affected will not process ores even when loaded with fuel, requiring breaking and replacement.
Please attach some screenshots and point out some of the affected hoppers. A world download might be helpful, too.
