Books No Longer Stack Once Transferred Through Hopper

EDIT: PLEASE SCROLL TO LAST COMMENT for update on issue. I've found a way to highlight this much more simply.

I have only tested this in Minecraft 1.9 and do not know if it is a persistent issue in other versions. Below are the steps to replicate the issue.

1) Set up a redstone system so that an item will go through a hopper, into a dropper, into another dropper, and then gets spat out and picked up by the player
2) Make several copies of the same book, for example, "Title- Copy of Original by Player"
3) Line the hopper with clones of this book, and fill the first dropper in the series with clones of this book, leaving room for a few more books to flow in
4) Allow the redstone circuit to proceed, pick up book at the end of redstone system

The book no longer stacks with identical books. This issue subsides once you actually try to read the book- they all start stacking again afterward.

I am not 100% certain where in this system the issue occurs, but I am guessing it could happen in any transfer of the books from one non-player block to another.

Please attach a test world or screenshots of your setup so we can more easily reproduce the described behavior.

Here is an attachment of a basic set up world in .rar form.

I've been having trouble pin-pointing the source of the problem. I have found out, however, that this is probably NOT related to redstone at all. Please ignore attached world, and see instructions below.

1) Write and sign a book
2) Make 1 copy of the book
3) Read the copy of the book you made
4) Make 1 more copy of the original book

The copy of the book that you read and the copy of the book that you did not read do not stack if the actions are performed in this order. Once you've read both books, they stack once again.

You can check the attached world if you want an example of identical written books not stacking. I've left them in the crate in front of spawn.

Reopening, but haven't tested yet.

Is this still an issue in the most recent versions (currently that is 1.10.2, or 16w43a) of Minecraft? If so, please update the affected versions and help us keeping this ticket updated from time to time. If you are the owner/reporter of this ticket, you can modify the affected version(s) yourself.
