The party interface fails to correctly display non-English usernames

On the Nintendo Switch 2 (and potentially the Nintendo Switch),

If a Nintendo Switch friend's username displayed in the Party screen contains characters not commonly used by English speakers—such as Japanese characters or other potentially affected character sets—those characters will be ignored; if the username contains no valid characters, it will appear blank.

The three players shown with blank usernames in the image all have Switch usernames consisting solely of Japanese characters or special characters.

Reproduction steps:
Add a friend on the Switch whose username consists of Japanese characters or special characters.
View the username on the in-game party screen.

Expected behavior:
The username should display correctly.
Actual result:
Parts of the username are missing, or the username appears completely blank.
