Battle Banner and Grindstone Issue

So, if both the battle banner and grindstone artifact are used together, the damage grows exponentially. I think it works with every damage type and elemental damage, but poison works the best from what I have found. I think using one artifact to multiply the damage, then using the other one to multiply the already multiplied damage creates a crazy build.
