Chests openable through floor

The chests in the dungeon which you’re meant to open by opening a bit in the floor (see picture) can be opened through the floor while the door bit is shut. I was able to do this multiple times in the same dungeon by standing over the section of floor directly above the chest, which gives the prompt to open the chest instead of the door. Both times were done while mashing A on an Xbox controller. The person I was playing with also managed to do this after watching one of these chests spawn in the air and phase down through the floor into the space it’s meant to be in.
