[MCL-10472] Changing directories for old MC versions doesn't work

Whenever I want to play an old version and change the directory, it still uses .minecraft, please fix. It used to work with older versions of the launcher but it doesn't work anymore, idk if it's a bug or if it's something with my Java version. Maybe I need to mess with my JVM arguments or change my Java version to Java 7 idk.

Still happens on latest launcher. Idk if this is a launcher issue as MultiMC is also broken and using the main .minecraft folder for saves and settings.

I've been testing this issue, and I seem to be unable to reproduce in the latest version of the Minecraft Launcher. Is this still an issue for you?
