Minecraft java edition for PC purchased version crashes on launch. Demo version worked fine.

Game crash on launch.

The Minecraft demo worked fine, and as per advised on the Minecraft website is a way to check that my PC can run the game. However, following purchase, and launch, game crashes as per this report.
