The launcher doesn't close properly, and refuses to launch a new process when I open it again. I have created a small workaround of running this command in the terminal:
killall minecraft-launcher minecraft-launc

It closes the window, but not the launcher process. When I run the launcher after this, the process is detected to already be running and so the new instance of the launcher will close. Hopefully that clears it up.
What version of the launcher are you using? As far as I know, 2.1.4974-2.1.4976 has not been released for Linux yet.
(On Windows, my Minecraft launcher with version 2.1.4998 will close properly. So if this is still an issue, it might be Linux-only.)

Sorry, it was 2.1.3676 (i'm super dumb and didn't care about checking the launcher version and assumed I was on the very latest version)
Ah, thanks. In that case, it's already covered by MCL-9914. As a workaround, you can use the "Keep launcher open" setting, so that you can manually close the launcher window.
What do you mean with "doesn't close properly"? Also, are you sure the version in the "Affects Version/s" field is correct?
