Launcher closes immediately after being opened if beta versions are enabled

Mod Notice

Here's how to disable the beta launcher again:

If you switched to the beta launcher and can't log in, you can switch back by editing launcher_profiles.json in your minecraft folder. Change the "channel" field from "beta" to "release".

The bug

The launcher is closed immediately after being opened. I am on the beta channel. This is happening since the launcher has been released. Switching to the release channel by editing launcher_profiles.json solves the issue.

I have attached the launcher log, as well as the native log.

To reproduce

  1. Open launcher

  2. Go to "Settings"

  3. Enable beta versions
→ ❌ Launcher closes. When trying to open it again, it'll close again

Can confirm, having the same issue and was checking if it had already been reported. I'm using Windows 10 Pro (x64)

Can confirm this. Happens to me too. Same launcher log.

Can confirm this issue. I'm using Windows 10 Home (x64).

UPDATE: I can now launch the beta Minecraft launcher. I got an update.

I think the bug happens, because there is an empty launcher-core value in the beta update files. Normaly a table with the version number and download link like in the release files exists.

UPDATE: No longer the case. The Beta files are fixed now.

confirmed to be the case here as well, using windows 10 lenovo desktop computer, tried running normal and on administrator and still crashes, was able to click out of the beta option by being fast enough before it crashes again, which solved it for me.
