This new launcher no longer lets me log in. I have changed password many times and each time it lets me log in but when i turn it of it enters offline mode and doesnt let me use my password. This must be launcher bug as it didnt happen before.

Hello! We're sorry you're experiencing this problem. In order to diagnose the problem, we need to look at your launcher log file. It's called launcher_log.txt, and can be found in your Minecraft folder. Please attach it to this bug report.
That is awfully weird - that log is from an older launcher session, where you successfully started playing the game. Are there more than one launcher_log.txt files on your computer?
