Check to see which Java version is default on your system? Forge only seems to work with Java 8 (for me anyway). Java 10-12 cause Forge to crash minecraft consistently.

We've made a fix that could affect this in the latest Beta version of the Launcher. Please try this again after switching to the beta in the Settings pane, and attach a new launcher_log.txt if it remains a problem.
