what part of it do you need because I tried to copy and paste it all but then it wouldn't let me comment it here

Just attach the full file to this ticket.

On top of this page, you find a button "Attach files". If you cannot find it, it might be hidden behind a button labeled "More". Click that button. Use the dialog box that pops up in order to attach the launcher_log.txt file to this ticket.

should I just re-install it?

Your problem looks like the same as the one I've got.
My launcher_log.txt ends in exactly the same way and leaves launcher stuck, not responding and not giving any error message.

I'm planning to submit this as a separate thread, but I have found a temporary fix.
On the installations tab, try changing the 'java executable' box to point at java.exe instead of the default javaw.exe
(in my case this was C:\Program Files (x86)\Minecraft Launcher\runtime\jre-x64\bin\java.exe)
No idea why this should work, but it did enable Launcher to finish loading for me.

To see if it is the same problem as I've got try going to the folder with javaw.exe in file explorer, then try double-clicking javaw.exe.  I get a message saying that Windows can't find the file javaw.exe
I think the problem is that somewhere in the MC folder/files or in Windows the javaw command is being routed to an incorrect location (but I haven't managed to work out why/how/where!)

For info (a) I have reinstalled MC Launcher and this doesn't solve the problem & (b) I don't have java installed separately.

Is this still an issue for you?
