Since this evening I can't get my launcher to start on my PC . I've tried the following things:
Re-install the game, it won't get further than updating.
Opened the game as adminstrator.
Changed the compatability to Windows XP Service Pack 3, that did work, but I couldn't get the latest version to work.
Changed the compatibility to Windows 8, didn't work.
Re-booted my PC with the re-installed game.
Downloaded the .msi and .exe installer, both didn't work when installed (while the other one was deleted)
Tried to change the channel to release; it was already on release instead of beta.
Searched the internet and Mojang bug forum.

I changed the compatibility back to Windows XP Service Pack, launched it, had to click on something with remembering settings? I don't know, but when I launch it, I get the older launcher, but everything still works. I dont use plug-ins or any modified stuff.

However, this issue is Invalid
Your game, launcher or server is modified.
If you can reproduce the issue in a vanilla environment, please recreate the issue.
Any non-standard client/server/launcher build needs to be taken up with the appropriate team, not Mojang.
Any plugin issues need to be addressed to the creator of the plugin or resource pack.
If you have problems on large servers, such as The Hive and Hypixel, please contact them first as they run modified server software.
