New Launcher lost me my local server alias

You tied my mojang account to my microsoft account today. No choice or warning. So I lost my Dad alias for my local server. ie it ignores

"displayName" : "Dad"

in

AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\launcher_profiles.json

All I need is to get in once and put all Dad's juicy stuff in a chest before he is binned. How can I get in again?

Your account should still be safe! It hasn't been migrated yet. Try signing into your Mojang account and loading up the game.

I am having the same issue.  I logged out and logged back into the mojang account.  The launcher ignored the "launcher_profiles.json" file and only cares about the "launcher_accounts.json" file now.

this aspect of launcher_profile doesn't even change when i restart the launcher ( like it used to )

"profiles" : {
        "fake-profile-key" : {
          "displayName" : "Daddy"
        }
      },

I have the same launcher version and am also on Windows 10.

Please check "Modded" as a filter in the Installations tab. This will enable listing modded installations across the launcher.

Did it solve your problem?

And please don't update launcher_profiles.json manually, we reserve the right to make changes of how this data is interpreted and can change it at any time.

I cannot see how this helps. My screen shows this if I check every filter available incuding Modded:

OK Thank you. Close the call. Sorted it myself. Dad is dead. He left me a lot of Protection 4 Mending armour and an ender chest full of heirlooms.

David. Don't know how to PM on this forum. As you say, it ignores launcher_profiles.json now. I started my LAN server and then, on the server I pulled the ethernet cable out. In the same folder as launcher_profiles.json is the file launcher_accounts.json. I changed "name" to "Dad" in there and started the Launcher. The button then said Start Offline so I did, and that got me in as Dad. Stripped off and emptied my ender chest and saved all my stuff in a big wooden chest, used all my XP combining books at the anvil and bowed out. I guess Dad could live on doing this, but too risky now - the account combination hasn't even happened yet so no doubt more electronic lockdown will occur. Sad times. I buried Dad near his favourite village. Good luck.
