Launcher doesn't create a new installation

Same issue. No new installations can get created

What version are you attempting to add? Is it a modified version, like OptiFine?

My launcher also does the exact same thing, and I'm on macOS

I tried reinstalling Minecraft, updating my java through system preferences, and tried new installations of forge, optifine, or just a normal one and it won't go through.

Same it's being really annoying and I have seen others have theirs fine

All installations are fine but the non Mojang ones just disappear after adding them

I was having this same issue, I checked everything and in the top right corner of the Installations tab you have to make sure that "modded" has a check next to it, I think this is something new they added in the launcher because I have never had to do this before

Please check "Modded" as a filter in the Installations tab. This will enable listing modded installations across the launcher.

That ticket has already been resolved as Fixed. The fix will arrive in a future version or is already included in the latest development version of the game; you can check the Fix Version/s field in that ticket to learn more.
