I open the minecraft launcher, i choose my installation to play on (forge 1.16.4), it says "ooh there are no player sfety features, bad for you", i click do not show again, then i hit play. Upon the Game having loaded, i quickly realise, that i set my RAM to high and the Computer makes all of the loud fan noises. I close the game again, to modify the Ram, so i hit "Installations", then I see all of my Forge versions have been deleted! (1.12.2 ; 1.16.4) I am just going to reinstall the Forge now.

After screwing around with it some more I saw the modded tag next to the releases and snapshots toggles. Such a stupid UI change please remove it. By clicking on the modded toggle it fixed my issue.
In the future "Modded" will be checked by default. src
I have the same issue but with optifine. It has been working fine the past few days but I switched versions for a bit and when I wanted to go back to optifine it had disappeared and Im unable to add it back by adding a new release.
Please check "Modded" as a filter in the Installations tab. This will enable listing modded installations across the launcher.
Did it solve your problem?
Same issue here reinstalling forge dose not help. Tried the new beta version of the launcher same issue. Forge is currently unplayable please fix soon.
