[MCL-18085] Minecraft Launcher will not get past Preparing after hitting PLAY

I already updated the game for 1.17, but lately, my launcher has been stuck on preparing even though I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game many times. it just won't budge past preparing when launching on multiple versions of the game. please help all my friends are enjoying the new update and I am stuck

I found out there's a second .minecraft inside of .minecraft, is it because I'm using --workDir which causes this?
