[MCL-18653] I try to log into my friends server but i get a message that says "Incompatible client, please use 1.17" but I am on 1.17.

I try to log into my friends server but i get a message that says "Incompatible client, please use 1.17" but I am on 1.17? So im not sure what to do about that, it was working yesterday perfectly fine.

Same here. i open my offline world and i see mine craft 1.17.1 on the top left and minecraft 1.16 on the top right.

I'm also experiencing this bug. I'm playing java on Windows.

Edit: I switched from version 1.17.1 to version 1.17.0 and was able to connect to a realm. Maybe that will work for some other people too?

Edit2: in the mc launcher window (before hitting "play"), go to the "Installations" tab > New Installation > Version: 1.17 > Create. Go back to your "Play" tab and select that new version you just created in the drop down window next to the "Play" button, then hit "play." Hope that helps!

I just realized the update dropped today for 1.17.1 talked to the guy that runs my server and it's still on 1.17 so possibly need to change your version to 1.17 or update the server.... I'm in the process of trying to update the server first to see if that works

Elizabeth, THANK YOU! It worked for me too! When you open minecraft launcher, there's a tab that will let you change the version from 1.17.1, to 1.17

Then play on that, and it hopefully let's you connect to the server

Updated our server to 1.17.1 and it was fixed.

Is it any different for realms if not owned by me? I have login of the owner though if anyone can tell me what to do.

I have been having this issue all day, my fiancee upgraded her realm, and I'm still getting this message. I have restarted my computer and still the same message.

Mine seems to have fixed itself. I logged in and it said incompatible please use 1.17

So i googled and saw that realm owner might need to log in so i logged in with owner and they got the same incompatible

So i got the 1.17 versions and tried to log in and it said INCOMPATIBLE PLEASE USE 1.17.1 HAHAHA

Then i quit, logged back in as normal and used the latest release as usual (`.`7.`) and its working... weird maybe it neeeded time to update something
