I just reset mine as well and i am having the same issue
the same thing happened to me it's bc your .mincraft folder is gone and I need help getting it back

I had the same issue and resolved it by installing Java JRE on my computer.
(It seems like Minecraft isn't checking to see if Java is installed.)
