I was cleaning up my computer recently, and after I finished the minecraft launcher told me that some parts of the assets folder were missing, so I tried to get rid of everything and redownload the game.
I deleted the icon in the applications folder, as well as the entire minecraft folder in application support. I then redownloaded the dmg file from the minecraft.net website.
When I open up the launcher, it says the "terribly wrong" bug message, and told me to make an error report. I heard that my java version might be the issue, so I upgraded from Java 13 to Java 16, but the same error occurred.
I have attached the launcher_log text file, as well as screenshots of the launcher terminal window and what the minecraft app support folder looks like now after the re-install.
