Long ago, attempting to install the latest versions (1.17 and onwards) resulted in the Minecraft launcher proceeding to crash and disconnect everything, from my mouse and keyboard to the storage drive, from my PC. Now, the installation progress bar won't even fill up despite having waited for longer than an hour. I can install versions before 1.17 like 1.16.5 and even modded versions like Fabric and Forge, but 1.17, 1.17.1, the snapshot, etc. won't install at all. I checked my logs but there isn't anything new because the game couldn't even open.
