freezes on versions prior to 1.19 snapshots

heres the logs:

no idea what happened

ive tried everything from deleting the version to (effectively) deleting the whole directory (i just made the directrory for a launch profile a new folder)

Could you answer few questions regarding this issue, it will help with the investigation: 

  • Does this issue occur on current standard version of the Launcher (not beta)?

  • On what versions does this issue occur?

  • Have you tried to install older version of the Launcher from the minecraft.net website (Windows 7/8 version)?

  • Are you logged in in both Xbox app, MS store, and Launcher with the same MS account? 

  • Have you tried signing out of all your Windows Apps, and the signing in again?

  • Is your Windows and associated apps (Xbox app, MS store) up-to-date? 

  • Have you tried updating/downgrading JDK Java version?

  • Have you tried to re-registering MS store as written here

  • Do you have enough free space on your disc drive?

  • Do you use any mods?

  • Have you tried downloading 'Xbox Identity Provider' found here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/xbox-identity-provider/9wzdncrd1hkw#activetab=pivot:overviewtab (or in MS store)?

  • Do you use VPN or any of the incompatible software on machine you try to log-in?  

  • Can you record a video showcasing this issue?

  • Could you provide us with more in-depth repro steps? 

  • Please also provide full launcher_log file.

Latest beta version as of now, no idea how to check the launcher version. I'm not using the windows store version of the launcher. Not using bedrock edition, using the superior edition.

No, it freezes before it could make any log files and all the logs in the console  are already posted.
I can't use microsoft store due to a windows bug that makes it crash as soon as I open it.

We do not have enough information to find the cause of this issue.

Please record a video of this happening and attach it to this report.
If you are on Windows, you can use Windows+Alt+R to open a built-in app for recording game footage.
If you are on Mac (Mojave or later), you can use Shift+Command+5 to open a built-in app for recording your screen.
In case you don't have a program to record videos, we recommend using the free recording software OBS.

I cannot record a video due to the fact that microsoft store and any apps related to microsoft store crash immediately. I have no idea how to use OBS.

I am not having the same issue described in that link. It crashes immediately after opening without any pop-up text.

1.13-1.18 versions crash. im on the latest beta for the launcher on windows 10, not the windows store edition of the launcher.

Try this:

  • Stop Minecraft

  • Navigate to .minecraft/

  • Open options.txt with an editor

  • Search for the line lang:xx_yy (xx_yy = LanguageCode_CountryCode, e.g. en_us for English (US) )

  • Change the lowercase CountryCode to uppercase, e.g. change en_us to en_US

  • Save the file

Also please uninstall Java and try installing official Java from Java.com, and if that does not work, try Java JDK from oracle.com

Go to Windows settings and then Update and security, and check for Windows updates.
