after automatic software update launcher fails to run

Hi there!

Have you tried to delete .minecraft folder (copy its content elsewhere before deletion) and then reinstall the Launcher?
Also, is there any other error message popping up?

I am getting around this in Linux by navigating to the minecraft-launcher binary in `~/.minecraft/launcher` and typing minecraft-launcher --skipUpdate`

I have the same issue but the '--skipUpdate' workaround doesn't work for me

I have checked the .minecraft/launcher_log.txt like in the comment of @unknown, and I see "GLIBC_2.29' not found"

I have checked today (1st September) on the new fresh installation of minecraft, and I don't see this error any more. I see that the new version of launcher has been released:  1st of Spetember.
Do still need Launcher_log file?

Hi , is the issue fixed for anybody else upon clean installation?
