[MCL-2300] Extra Fonts installed in Windows 8.1 stops Launcher running

I click on the launcher it should load with text.

The launcher shows blank/grey without any text inside it.

I installed new Fonts into my Windows FONT directory. That is all. Nothing else has any issues with the amount of fonts installed only Minecraft sadly. I left the Launcher for 2 hours and still it was grey with no text loading inside the launcher frame. I have to force the launcher to close by using task manager.
I have reported this a while ago to support and I was told to uninstall the fonts?
I don't have a virus. I purchased the fonts legally.
I have installed 10,000 fonts (Ten Thousand).
Every other program, app, game and software works 100% fine but not my beloved Minecraft.
I have installed the fonts onto my other PC the same way (in the WINDOWS FONT DIRECTORY) and the exact same thing happens.
I have a high end PC that get 120 FPS on Battle Field 4 on Ultra settings. I get 400+ fps in Minecraft.
It's not my PC it's the Launcher.
I don't have any other changes made.
STEP 1. INSTALL 10,000 FONTS in the windows font directory.
STEP 2. LOAD Minecraft Launch.
STEP 3. Wait
STEP 4. After waiting as long as you like (over 2 hours for me) Closed the Launcher using Task Manager.
STEP 5. Report Bug

Here you go. it's not been making new files/logs since I installed to fonts. So I have no new log.gz from today or any day since I installed them.

You would be after a more current .log.gz is that correct? Or does the 28th Feb file have the details you need? I ask because I can't send a new file since the font were installed.

That logfile you've attached is clean, there is nothing to see.
I don't know what you may do now except either waiting until that bug is fixed or you may use the Mojang Support Center, especially Minecraft help chat or help forum.

So did you see how the mouse goes really yuck!? And then cleans up and moves fluid again? I can't close the launcher until them mouse works right again. DO NOT THING THIS ERROR IS WITH MY MOUSE PLEASE (Not yelling just making the last sentence stand out as most important). Yeah so while the mouse is affected by the launcher, the launcher refuses to close and I am forced to use Task Manager. I found if I just wait it out I am able to shut the launched down with [X].

And the second attached video shows what my systems resources are doing while the launcher is "loading"/"hung" Again you notice the mouses movement is really "yuck" and when it recovers the mouse moves very smoothly. You will notice my system is not peaking out any of the resources it can use at all. So 1) the mouse is effected badly and 2) the launcher is not using massive amounts of my CPU or MEM or DISK....

No one understand this issue. it's easy to replicate. 1 Get 10,000 (ten thousand) fonts and install them (and they work with ever other thing with out issue) into the Windows font folder (correctly - as windows will not just let you put any file there) and try and load your Minecraft launcher = Launcher hung/stall thats it! Then unistall your fonts (that cause no issues with anything else... why would they?) and The launcher loads.
Oh and I have tested this on my other PC that has 8 physical cores in the CPU!?

Have you tried other java applications? I strongly suspect this is a Java bug, since there's a report filed on their tracker about it. A workaround would be to set the JAVA_FONTS environment variable to a location with a sane number of fonts.

I don't know exactly where the environment variables editor is in Windows 8, since I don't have it, but you should be able to search for "environment variables" in Windows Search, under Settings. Hit New, enter JAVA_FONTS for the name, and the path to a folder with a minimal collection of fonts as the value.

I believe Java requires a few certain fonts, possibly Arial.ttf, Cour.ttf, Times.ttf, and Wingding.ttf, so you should make sure to copy those to your alternate font folder.

Is this still a concern in the current Launcher version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. If this has been done, we can reopen the issue.

Keep in mind that the "Resolved"-Status on this ticket just means "Answered", and that we are waiting for further information on whether this issue still exists or not. We will reopen it as soon as the requested information has been delivered.

Hi and YES!
I have reinstalled my OS last week and this was something I didn't test.
I have installed all the fonts are shortcuts. I am not sure if that changes thing but I did this and then launched MC and it was as fast as if I had not just intalled all the fonts.
I say it's 100% solved for me. 10 thousand fonts installed and MC runs perfectly 😃
